What’s a personalised yoga practice?

Yoga can provide powerful transformation through benefiting the mind, body, breath, and emotional and psychological states. Traditionally, yoga was always taught 1:1 to ensure that yoga meets the individual where they are at and guides them to where they want to be.  One to one private yoga can provide specific support to beginners, to those wanting to deepen their yoga practice, and to people who may feel hesitant about participating in a group class setting. My teacher Michal De Manincor has explored the effects of a personalised home yoga practice on depression and anxiety with some interesting results here.

Have you considered booking in with me so that I can design a personalised home yoga practice for you? Here’s a rundown of what to expect:

  • We spend the first session talking about your current routine and consider goals for your practice. I then perform an assessment of your movement, breathing, and thinking patterns. Next, we explore various yoga tools that are helpful for your goals, and then commit to a regular practice schedule.

  • At your second session, I provide you with your individualised personal yoga practice that we’ve co-created. You’ll receive a drawing of your practice, as well as zoom video recordings of you completing your practice.

  • At your third session, we review your practice, address any challenges or questions you might have, and make any required adjustments.

Here’s some feedback from a recent client:

“I’ve loved doing yoga practice, it’s such an important part of my life now and I look forward to rebooking our session when I get back from holidays 😊

In keeping up with the busy pace of life, I’m always looking to get the most out of exercise – heart-rate going, blood pumping. Time is always short, so I try to squeeze the most I can out of anything. When Nat asked if I’d like to try practicing yoga, I thought it would be great to learn a different type of exercise. What I wasn’t prepared for was how much I would benefit from yoga in a way that it turned out I needed it most – the slow-down.

Having little to no knowledge of yoga prior to my first session with Nat, I was completely unaware of how fundamental breathing is to yoga. I already knew that I was a chest-breather, and while I knew this wasn’t a good thing, I spent little to no time thinking or caring about the importance of breathing.

Within minutes of beginning my yoga practice each day, my heart rate slows right down and for the first time that day, I am able to slow my breath and my thoughts and stay in the moment. I’m able to concentrate on my breathing and I enjoy the fluidity and gentleness of the movements as part of the relaxation experience.

As a first-time yoga participant, my experiences have been completely different to that of my expectations. It was such a pleasant and important discovery for me and I’m very grateful to Nat for introducing me to this wonderful type of yoga.

Thank you once again Nat! 😊”
